Hares are larger than rabbits, with longer ears and legs, and can run incredibly fast. They have been inspiration in many cultures for literature and mythical creatures. Hares in Europe, like this brown hare, are vulnerable to hare ‘coursing’, which is the sport of chasing and killing hares with dogs. It has been banned in the UK, but still continues there illegally, as well as in other countries.
